Called to Build the Kingdom of God

Jackie Francis

Prayer Pact International Ministries (See the Pact) was established on February 2, 2009 after the vision was given to me one morning during my devotional time with the Lord.  I had grown to love praying and wanted others to discover what I had; that prayer was not just a means to an end, but rather an end in itself.  I used to pray because it was expected of me as a Christian and for the most part only prayed fervently and consistently when I needed something from God.  However, over the years, I discovered what David meant when he wrote in Psalm 16:11 “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

I woke up one morning with a song I had not sung since I was a child and somehow knew the Spirit of the Lord was speaking. The message from the song, "It Only Takes A Spark" was clearly all that God needed to start the work He was about to do through me. For sometime I had the desire to see Christians experience the joy of prayer.   I had discovered that prayer was not just a means to an end, but rather a beautiful experience in and of itself and sincerely desired that other Christians would experience this.

One morning during devotion, I asked the Lord for a means to bring people together to pray. When the Holy Spirit inspired me to use a conference line, I clearly saw the words “Prayer Pact” floating before my eyes and I quickly reached out and grabbed them.  I clearly understood that those who would be a part of the group of “prayers” would be making a commitment to each other and to the Lord to pray, hence “Prayer Pact.”

When I was unable to secure a conference line to start on the designated date, the Holy Spirit inspired me to pair people as partners who would call each other to pray.  Seventeen brethren from my local church plus my friend Jennifer Kennedy from Port Charlotte Florida agreed to get up at 5am, Monday to Friday, for 30 days to pray one on one with each other. Once my pastor secured me the conference line, we continued praying one on one Monday to Thursday, but would come together on the conference line on Friday mornings.  The Lord soon let me know that we were to continue indefinitely and about a year later we began meeting corporately every morning.

Seven years later the Prayer Pact is still praying and the vision has evolved into more than I could ever imagine.  The many testimonies, outreach ministries, and the spiritual growth of the members of the Prayer Pact has demonstrated the marvelous plan that the Lord had in mind when He inspired me to start this ministry.
