Proverbs Chapter 8

 In the first verse of the chapter the question is asked "Doth not wisdom cry? " Wisdom is female and she possesses certain characteristics:

 

She is loud

She cries at the gates, the entry of the city and at the doors (verse 3)

 

She is impartial

She cries to the sons of men, the simple and to fools (verse 5)

 

She has a companion

She lives with prudence (verse 12)

 

She is consulted 

By her kings reign and princes decree justice (verse 15)

 

She is rich

Many want to be rich and honorable, but durable riches and honor and righteousness are with her (verse18)

 

She loves

She returns love to those who love her and she can be found if sought after (verse 17)

 

She is from everlasting

The Lord possessed her before His works of Old (verse 23)

 

She pleases the Lord

He delights in her daily (verse 30)
